The Big Bang Theory timeline plot hole calls Sheldon and Wil’s long-running feud into question

CLUED-UP fans of The Big Bang Theory have spotted a gaping plot hole in the sitcom's history.

Viewers of the hit comedy were familiar with the show's long-running gag about a feud between Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and actor Wil Wheaton, who appeared in several episodes as himself.

But it looks like the show, which ran for twelve seasons from 2007-2019 and also starred Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco, has made a blunder with its timeline.

In the twelfth episode of season 10, titled The Holiday Summation, Sheldon lists his friends in the order that he met them.

He tells his mum:  “I have Leonard, Howard and Raj… Stuart, Penny, Leonard’s mum, Bernadette, Wil Wheaton…”

He then clarifies that he was naming them "chronologically".

But savvy viewers have noted that Sheldon made a mistake in mentioning Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) before Wil, as he actually met Wil first.

While Wil and Bernadette first appeared on screens in the fifth episode of season three, Sheldon didn't actually come face to face with Bernadette until the tenth episode of that run.

Fans will remember that Sheldon's beef with Wil dated back to when he was 15.

He was left disappointed by the Star Trek actor when he didn't show up at the 95' Dixie Trek Convention in Jackson, Mississippi.

The pair then became pals when they met at a Mystic Warlords of Ka'a tournament although their on-off sparring continued.

Wil appeared in a total of 17 episodes of The Big Bang Theory over the years.

His final episode was the sixteenth episode of season 12 in which he hosted a celebrity version of Dungeons and Dragons with William Shatner.

This isn't the show's first plot hole that has been exposed recently.

A fan recently spotted an error about when Sheldon actually met his bestie, Leonard.
