"It's very creative and we get to make lots of friends. The adults are very nice and we get to perform a show at the end," she told Tess.

Strictly host Tess then surprised Anastasia with a special video message from the stars of Doctor Who, telling her they were filming in America.

Jodie, 37, who plays the 13th Timelord, and her co-stars Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole then appeared on a big screen.

"Hi Anastasia, we're so sorry we're not there with you tonight but we hope you're having the most amazing evening, we're in America shooting the next series," Jodie said.

As the reception crackled, Tosin asked Jodie is she could sort out the problem.

"I'm the Doctor, I can do this, hang on," Jodie said as she pointed her sonic screwdriver at the camera.

At this point, the real surprise of the evening was revealed as the screen parted in two and the trio were stood there in the studio.

Even Tess looked emotional as she then asked Anastasia if she had anything to say to her heroine.

"You're amazing," the aspiring actress beamed, to which Jodie smiled and revealed the next bit of the surprise.

"Do you know what, Anastasia, we have heard so much about you, and we heard you've learnt so many things at the Hackney Shed that you could probably teach us for our next season," she said.
