EastEnders fans devastated as Ben tells Callum they can’t be together if he becomes a copper

EASTENDERS viewers were devastated tonight as it looked like the writing is on the wall for Ben and Callum.
Frustrated by Callum's ambition to join the police, Ben told him he didn't think there was a future for them if he became a copper.
The scene unfolded as Callum joined Ben's family for lunch to remember the late Mel Owen.
But things soon became tense when Martin Fowler got wind about Callum intending to join the old bill and went on to tease Ben about it.
Clocking his boyfriend's unease, Callum confronted Ben in the kitchen, asking what was going on.
"Cops and robbers aren't mates when they grow up," Ben told his other half.
"I'm not an idiot," Callum insisted. "I know that the stuff you do on the side is a little bit dodge.
This whole you innocent, me naughty thing that we've got going on, it's hot but it's a bit dodge," Ben interrupted.
"So what you saying, if I join the force, you'll give me the boot?" a shocked Callum asked.
"I don't see how we can work out otherwise," Ben confirmed, regretfully.
As Cathy then walked in on their tense chat, a hurt Callum was reeling from Ben's bombshell and quickly left.
And he wasn't the only one gutted, as fans of the couple - dubbed Ballum by their devotees - shared their distress at the situation on twitter.
One said: Nooo I don’t want angst just want them to be happy
A second posted: Ben really doesn’t deserve Callum.
A third chipped in: FFS Ben you will loose Callum don't act selfish support him
A fourth added: They’ve only just became official boyfriends! Surely this can’t be the end of Ballum already.....Please say we get a happy ending"
Not only is Ben's relationship in trouble, but he also also got into a fight with his mum Kathy Beale.
As he drowned his sorrows following his tiff with Callum, he and Cathy got into a war of words after she overheard him talking to Martin.
Realising he has got Martin involved in his dodgy dealings, she gave him a dressing down.
But Ben turned it back on her, bringing up how she faked her own death and then blaming her for the trauma she suffered in the past,
Hurt, Cathy slapped her son round the face before telling him: "I hope to God that you never live to be ashamed of your own child."
Can Ben make it up to his mum, and his boyfriend?
