Who is Baby Yoda in The Mandalorian and how is he connected to the original?

BABY Yoda has intrigued and bewildered Star Wars: The Mandalorian fans since debuting on the Disney+ series.
Many have been left wondering who this green flesh creature is, so here we gather the theories doing the rounds.
Who is Baby Yoda?
Like any series, Star Wars: The Mandalorian viewers have questions they need answering, for example: When exactly does The Mandalorian take place?
However, the biggest question of them all is who is this bite-sized, green-coloured creature, known by fans as Baby Yoda?
Some have speculated Baby Yoda is the lovechild of Yoda and Yaddle, which seems like the most plausible explanation.

When is Star Wars: The Mandalorian released?
Star Wars: The Mandalorian launched on Disney + on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 – the same day the new streaming service arrived.
However, the platform is not available in the UK until Tuesday, March 31, 2020 - several months after the premiere.
The first two episodes of the series dropped during the premiere week but it has since been released every Friday.
Below are the launch dates of the remaining episodes:

Episode 5 – 6th December
Episode 6 – 13th December
Episode 7 – 18th December
