The last time they were photographed together was Elton John's Aids Foundation Party in early July and both have been absent from each other's social media.

The Family Fortunes presenter shared a photo of his two daughters on the beach facing the sunset, with the caption: "After being in the Middle East for a week, no better feeling than coming home."

But a follower commented on the happy scene: "Feels like you and @tessdaly are living separate lives. I hope not. Love you guys."

The comment didn't sit well with the 45-year-old, who replied: "Pictures of our family life are all labelled nicely on an iPad or in Apple photo books for us to share, as a family.

"No need to invite the world into our home life, some do, but it's not for us."

Vernon and Tess hit a bump in 2010 after it was revealed Vernon was texting Page 3 model Rhian Sugden behind Tess' back.

Vernon sent hundreds of flirty texts to Rhian and tried to arrange secret meetings with her at a hotel.

This happened a second time in 2016 when the The Sun revealed he was sexting the model again.

Last year, Rhian expressed regret about getting involved with their marriage, telling us: "I deeply regret creating a friendship with Vernon and allowing him to continue speaking to me the way he did.

"I should never have got involved with a married man. As time has passed I regret not being wise enough or strong enough to deal with my own issues and insecurities myself. The exchange of messages was inappropriate and I should not have encouraged such behaviour."
