Killing Eve’s Owen McDonnell reveals Niko’s fate in aftermath of brutal Villanelle attack

KILLING Eve’s Owen McDonnell has revealed Niko’s fate in the aftermath of Villanelle's brutal attack.
The character was attacked by the twisted hit woman in a storage locker alongside new love interest Gemma in series two.
While Villanelle killed Gemma by tying a plastic bag around her head and suffocating her, Niko just about managed to survive the attack.
However he isn't out of the woods yet as he remains stuck in the storage locker with no idea if - or how - he'll be rescued.
But speaking to , actor Owen joked: "Is there anything I can tell you about Killing Eve…? Nope!"
He went on to confirm Niko is alive, adding: "Yeah I think that’s fine [to say he’s alive], but other than that there’s nothing. Other than it’s been fun.
"Filming is still ongoing, I don’t know where they are this week, but yeah, we’re still filming.
"We’re filming up until January.
"You’ll see Niko dealing with that situation."
Owen also revealed he's good at keeping spoilers from the BBC drama to himself, because even his close friends and family don't want to know what happens.
He explained: "Nobody really wants the spoilers! Even my wife won’t watch Killing Eve until it’s on and doesn’t want to know anything that happens in the scripts.
"We do [get screeners] sometimes, but she won’t watch them as she wants to be part of the conversation that goes on at work, or when people watch it together and go “did you see this? Did you see that?”
"She doesn’t need to sit there in secret for a month and go “oh, someone else watch it!”’
A number of new writers have come on board for the third season, and Owen has been excited by what he's seen in his script.
He revealed: "I read the first few scripts and was like 'Wow, this is so good'. They've maintained a high bar."
Killing Eve series three returns in 2020 on BBC One and BBC America.
