Matt and H from Steps have already spoken to Dancing on Ice bosses about making their performances more romantic.

In an exclusive chat with the Sun Online, 43-year-old Matt, who is always partnered with the show's biggest stars including Gemma Collins last year,  said: "We have spoken to producers to see if we can make the routines a little steamier. Perhaps take it up a notch and add some romance.

"It's down to them though.

"Last week we tested the waters and we were overwhelmed by the response from the viewers. Having a same sex couple on the show means so much to so many people -  I didn't realise how huge it would be."

Matt and H reduced new judge John Barrowman to tears with their showstopping performance last week.

Rival BBC show Strictly Come Dancing was also slammed for not reaching the milestone first, with viewers and celebs alike agreeing that it was time to include same-sex couples.

Matt revealed the extent to which their debut all male pairing on the ice had affected their fans.

Fans told him seeing the same sex representation on TV even helped to save lives.

He said: "We have had so many messages like this.

"One said 'I just wanted to say thank you . You have made me feel more validated as a person by representing the LGBT community. I know some people don't like it, but it means so much to me.

"I spent time in hospital for taking overdoses because of being bullied for being gay.

"To see us being represented on TV just makes me feel so blessed. ' "

The pair proved a big hit on Sunday night's show, however, their coupling angered a small group viewers who actually complained to the TV watchdog about their dance.

Just  16 viewers felt the need to complain about two men dancing together.

Matt tweeted: "16 out of 5.5 million... the odds are in our favour."
