Strictly’s Bruno Tonioli warns bosses not to follow ITV’s first Dancing on Ice same-sex couple ‘for headlines’

STRICTLY Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli has warned that bosses need to be “careful” not to follow Dancing On Ice with a same-sex couple as a stunt.
It comes after the ITV ice-dancing show paired Steps singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins, 43, with pro skater Matt Evers, 43, for the first time.
Italian-born Bruno, 64, said: “We would have to be very careful because we wouldn’t want to do it just to get headlines."
"It has to be the right person and couple for it to work."
"The search needs to start and it’s something that is possible."
"But it shouldn’t be headline chasing."
Matt and Ian made telly history by becoming the ITV show’s first same-sex pairing.
Skating pro Matt previously admitted he could fall for the former Steps star after long hours spent training together.
He said: "I’m very much a professional. I’ve never had the chance to have a ‘showmance’ because I’m a gay man and I’ve always skated with females.
“I haven’t looked at him as a potential partner outside the rink but I’d never say never. He is a lovely man.”

Meanwhile Bruno also defended professional dancer Oti Mabuse, 29, and actor Kelvin Fletcher, 36, after they were pictured having late night drinks together.
Speaking at the Prince of Egypt launch he added: “It’s absolutely nonsense that anything will be going on with Kevin and Oti."
"Just because you have a drink with someone it doesn’t mean you’re having an affair together."
