ALTERED Carbon season 2 is now here - but viewers may not be hip to the some of the terms used in the futuristic, urban-esque, sci-fi series.
Words such as 'Meths', have left fans scratching their heads, not to worry though, we've figured out the meaning so you won't have to, making it easier for you to relax and enjoy the show.

What are 'Meths'?
'Meths' are one of the terms that viewers will constantly hear throughout the show, so things won't make much sense throughout the series without knowing what it means.
To explain, we have to revisit the concept of the show.
Altered Carbon is set in the future, the 23rd Century to be exact, in a period where humans have the potential to effectively live forever.
This is because scientists have found a way to digitise the human brain, meaning the soul can continue living after death as it can be transferred to another body - like a computer hard-drive, although it's referred to as a "stack" in the show.
But, there's a catch, not everyone can afford a new body and if you change bodies too much you can damage your consciousness, this is where 'Meths' come in.
Meths are basically the wealthiest people on the show who can afford new bodies and actually live forever, even if a Meth's 'stack' is destroyed, they can pay the insane cost of a backup stack so they can carry on living beyond the destruction of their stack.
The show's richest Meth, billionaire Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy) takes this concept even further as he has multiple clones of his original body.
The term Meth comes from the word 'Methuselah', who in the Hebrew Bible was the Grandfather of Noah and recorded as the longest living person of all time.

Who is in the cast of Altered Carbon season 2?
There has been a few changes to this season's line-up, most notably there's a brand new lead, here's who to expect, old and new in the new series.
- Takeshi Kovacs (Anthony Mackie) - The Marvel star replaces Joel Kinnaman as the lead character
- Trepp (Simone Missick) - Missick (Marvel Universe) plays expert bounty hunter Trepp
- Dig 301 (Dina Shihabi) - Dina Shihabi (Daredevil) plays an out of work AI, programmed to assist archeologists
- James Saito - Plays a Yakuza bosss who controls a planet's organised crime ring
- Danica Harlan (Lela Loren) - Lela Loren (Power) plays Governor of planet Harlan's world.
- Colonel Carrera (Torben Librecht) - the German actor plays the leader of a special forces unit called 'the Wedge'
Fans will be happy to know Renee Elise Goldsberry is returning as 'Quellcrist Falconer' and Chris Conner is back as 'Poe'.

Will there be an Altered Carbon season 3?
Altered Carbon season 3 has not yet been officially confirmed.
But a return of the series seems likely as many questions from season 2 have not been answered.
Plus, fans will be happy to know that Author Richard Morgan revealed plans for the show 'to last five seasons', according to .
Seeing as two years have passed between the first two seasons, it is unlikely season 3, if released, will hit screens until 2022 at the earliest.
