Maura Higgins’ skate partner’s wife leaves country after he was pictured leaving her home
DANCING On Ice beauty Carlotta Edwards has fled home to Canada in a bid to escape the fallout after her husband was linked to Maura Higgins.
Pro skater Alexander Demetriou, 28, is said to have fallen for reality TV star Maura after they were paired together on the ITV skating show.
Sources close to Carlotta, 30, last night told how she jetted home to her parents Nancy and Peter in Port Edward, British Columbia.
News of her departure came after The Sun on Sunday’s exclusive pictures last week showed a hooded Alex leaving Maura’s home.
Sources said Carlotta told close friends: “This is my worst fear come true.”
One revealed: “Carlotta feels utterly humiliated that Alex has fallen for Maura and seems to have abandoned their marriage.
“She tried to put a brave face on things during the final but she needed to get away from them both.
“She is now spending time with her family.
“The fact Alex has since been seen having coffee with Maura and leaving her home speaks volumes.”
Maura, who this week did a glam photoshoot for next week’s Fabulous Magazine in The Sun on Sunday, was dating fellow ex-Love Island contestant Curtis Pritchard when she joined Dancing On Ice.
But it was not long before cracks began to show in their seven-month relationship as she and Alex grew closer.
In February, Maura, 29, and Curtis announced their split.
Then, just a week after we told how Alex and Carlotta’s marriage was beyond repair, our exclusive pictures showed Alex leaving Maura’s flat.
The pal went on: “Carlotta hoped that Alex’s infatuation with Maura would fade.
“Seeing Alex with Maura when they returned to Dancing On Ice for the final was hard but she held herself together.
“Her family are supporting her but it is the toughest situation she’s ever had to cope with.
“Part of her wants to fight for their marriage, but the other part wants to accept it’s all over.
“Her Dancing On Ice family obviously can’t see her in person at the moment but they are supporting her.”
On the day of the TV show’s final, Carlotta posted an Instagram snap of her and Alexander, captioned: “Love this one so much.”
But Carlotta’s wedding ring was not visible — and Alex was not wearing his either.
Since the final two weeks ago, both have kept silent. Alex is understood to be in his home town of Blackpool.

Alex and Carlotta have been together for 11 years. They fell for each other while performing in Disney On Ice.
In an interview in 2018, Carlotta admitted when Alex joined the touring stage show she thought he was “arrogant” — but began dating him after a month.
Alex said: “We were only 19 when we met and over the years we grew up together.”
