The deadly assassin, played by Jose Manuel Poga, had managed to escape a tricky pair of handcuffs to free himself and head to the secure panic room.

Yet for The Professor, played by Alvaro Martin, and his eight strong team, it was nowhere to be found.

The Professor threw all his efforts into helping the heist team escape from the Royal Mint of Spain in the latest series, after he believed Lisbon to be dead and drew up detailed plans of the building so they could pull it off and flee.

Yet amid his meticulous planning viewers can't quite fathom why the panic room was overlooked.

One took to a fan forum on Reddit to quip: "This series might as well be called La Casa de Plot Holes nowadays."

Another wrote: "I loved this season but it had a couple of plot mistakes - Why didn't they asked the governor where the panic room was?"

Another posted a rathermore lengthy analysis, centred on the heist group's failure to ask the single key question which would have led them to Gandia.

They posted: "Question about panic room. Money heist fans, please answer me this question.

"Why didn't the gang just ask the Governor of the Bank of Spain where the panic room was when they found out Gandia was hiding in there?

"Since the room was made for HIS security, the governor ought to know where it was located, right?"

Another suggested the professor should have guessed such a facility existed, and wrote: "I can imagine that kind of secret panic room doesn't show on blueprints... But its existence is easy to guess, definitely.

"What I mean is, it's definitely a lazy writing as such rooms are definitely the kind of things the professor thinks about.

"No way he didn't even guess."

The success of Money Heist's season three saw the show become the most watched non-English language series in its first week on the platform.

The eight episode series dropped in its entirety, with each episode running between 41 and 57 minutes.
