X Factor’s Frankie Cocozza opens up about his drug shame as he reveals his dramatic new look

The 23-year-old was kicked off the show in 2011 for taking cocaine

FRANKIE Cocozza has revealed he has got his life back on track following a difficult few years.

The singer – who was famously kicked off the X Factor for taking cocaine – appeared on This Morning today revealing his brand new look.

The 23-year-old has ditched his dirty-looking hair and dark eyeliner - in favour for long natural curly hair, giving Harry Styles a run for his money.

Five years following his appearance on the ITV singing contest, Frankie has admitted he found his rise to fame very difficult.

Speaking to Phillp and Holly, he said: “Yeah it was very strange. It all happened so quickly. It just snowballed and it kept going and going.”

And when Holly asked if he thought he was ready to go on the show when he was only 18, he replied: “No, not a chance. You don’t realise that so many people watch the X Factor. The day after my audition aired it went mental.”

During his time on the X Factor – before he was sensationally forced to leave – Frankie was seen hitting the town with mates almost every night.

“To be honest, I knew I wasn’t going to win the show,” discussing why he was happy to party so much.

“I had the time of my life and so did my mates.”

However things spiralled out of control and in the November of 2011, he was kicked off for breaking a "golden rule."

His leaving the prime time Saturday night programme was later blamed on "boasting about cocaine-fuelled sex sessions."

Speaking about his drug use, he said: “With the whole cocaine thing... I held my hands up and said I had to go.”

While things appeared to get back on track after leaving the show and following his successful stint on CBB, he again turned to drink and drugs when his friend Connor was tragically killed from a single punch.

“Everyone struggled with it, I was 19 and I had £200k in the bank,” he shared.

“It was just so easy. People knew my history so on a night out people would be like 'have a bit of this'.

"I like going out. I did like some of the stuff I shouldn’t have liked. It did get really bad. There were times when I would wake up in the morning crying thinking what is going on and it would last for weeks.

"It’s just dangerous and I’m not saying it’s because of that that I went a bit mental but you don’t think about it."

After taking some time out to go travelling Frankie says he has now calmed down and is looking for someone to work with him.

Discussing how reliable he is, he admitted: “That is one thing I do regret is letting people down all the time.If you would have asked me a year ago (to go on the show) I would have said not a chance.

“But I’m confident and I’m happy, I want to do other stuff as well. I want to act.”

And when Phillip said you can sit here and today and say you are reliable, a changed Frankie and can be trusted, he replied: "I'm up for it."
