Star Wars: Episode VIII has a new name, a key battle and the return of a fan favourite
Mystery grows over the upcoming release as a series of reported spoilers have been posted online

JEDI and Stormtroopers have been spoilt rotten online after a new set of leaks from the set of Star Wars: Episode VIII that includes a new title, a key battle and a return of an old friend.
Look away now if you do not want to be spoiled ahead of time – don’t say we didn’t warn you!
According to a video that has been leaked online, the newest installment is set to be called…Star Wars Episode VIII: Fall of the Resistance.
While other ‘leaks’ have been posted before now, with names including The Jedi Steps and Shadow of the Sith being touted as possibilities, many believe this is the title that may stick.
As well as this, stars Adam Driver, Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley have been spotted filming in Ireland at a spot being used for Luke’s planet of exile, Ahch-To.
The Express reports the trio, who play lead characters Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker and Rey, will go head-to-head following Kylo murdering his father at the end of the last film.
The new spoilers could be spelling trouble for Luke, who trained Kylo to become a Jedi before he turned to the Dark Side and may now have to face battle with his Padawan and his Knights of Ren.
But he may have some help, as rumours have also started circulating that Frank Oz, the voice of Yoda, has reportedly been brought in to create voice-overs for the new film.
The latest leaks have set Star Wars fans into a frenzy, with the new name causing concern from fans online, who believe that the title is an implication of the fate of its most beloved characters.
One user on Twitter wrote: “If fall of the resistance is true…does that mean…the rise of the first order?”
Another, more sceptical tweeter wrote: “Huh…doesn’t make much sense. TFA “implied” that the resisitance is just a small group of guerrilla fighters”
The grainy video footage has been taken on a phone by someone who is currently working on preparations for the upcoming Star Wars Europe Celebration event, due to take place from 15-17 July at London’s ExCel Exhibition Centre.
Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, who have played fan favourites Luke Skywalker and Princess/General Leia since the first movie, are both due to attend the exhibition, with other characters due to be announced.
After the resounding success of The Force Awakens last year, the pressure is now on for the filmmakers to up-the-ante in the much loved franchise.
John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie are all set to reprise their roles.
The production of the movie, which is currently being filmed in the UK and Ireland, has been shrouded in secrecy as die-hard fans begin to dig out details.
While the name is currently unconfirmed, it appears that this first glimpse into what Episode VIII has to offer has seemingly fallen through the cracks.
Pablo Hidalgo, Creative executive at Lucasfilm, took to his Twitter page to neither confirm nor deny the rumours are true, but did warn fans of people making fake spoilers.
Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to be released in cinemas on 15 December, 2017.
