Katie explained: "Queenie, to do with The Queen’s birthday, and obviously I have a lot of gay friends, so it all associates.
"We’d been looking for a puppy anyway and Kieran bought it for my birthday. I had to ask him first - I wouldn’t just take it home!"
Katie also shared a video of the Queenie meeting her children with singer Peter Andre, Junior and Princess, for the first time.
An excitable Junior, 10, exclaimed: "Oh my gosh – he’s so cute."
Before eight-year-old Princess corrects him: "It's a girl."
Junior added: "I’m going to hug you every day. She’s like my new best friend."
The blonde was seen leaving the Loose Women studios on Monday carrying the dog in her arms.
Katie had wrapped the dog in a blue gingham blanket before taking it to her waiting car.
Coleen commented: "Why is it when I'm off you lot have all the fun - you had puppies in the studio!"
Before Katie quipped: "They weren’t as good as your puppies."
"Better beheaved I would have thought," responded Coleen.
Katie then promised to bring Queenie back onto the show adding "it’ll be a bit like Blue Peter."
Katie is well known for her love of animals, having owned a catalogue of pets including horses, ponies, pigs chickens, ducks and even a goat.
Husband Kieran recently revealed a guardian angel tattoo of his wife.
He told OK! magazine: "Basically after all the issues that have gone on between me and Kate, I wanted to portray her as a guardian angel. She has helped me through my troubles and I wanted to show her that I think she is an angel to me."
