EastEnders’ Jake Wood finds quick way to sail through Covid temperature test – arriving on set in £20k convertible Mini
JAKE Wood has found a great work-around for awkward coronavirus temperature checks - by driving his convertible straight into the EastEnders set.
The 48-year-old star was spotted looking effortlessly cool as he drove up to the studio gates in a red open-top Mini, worth around £20,000.
With his roof down, a guard wearing a protective visor mask was able to quickly check Jake's temperature without manoeuvring around a window or asking him to hop out.
Jake wore sunglasses on his way into work, with filming for the BBC One soap only resuming last month after all TV production was brought to a halt back in March.
EastEnders was the last of the soaps to return to filming, and the only one forced off air after they ran out of episodes that'd been recorded before the ongoing pandemic.
Instead, the BBC have been airing an iconic vintage episode each week, as well as a documentary special Secrets From The Square - hosted by Stacey Dooley.
Jake and Scott Maslen, who plays his onscreen brother Jack, are the focus of next week's episode - with a sneak peek at the interview revealing that Max will be returning to our screens with a bang.
Jake teased: "Max has got himself embroiled in a very unpleasant situation when we come back.
"It’s something completely different for him, it’s very surprising and unexpected.
“It has been really busy for me but it’s great stuff, they’re good scripts and true to form.

"I would say it’s definitely Max Branning doing what Max Branning does! The viewers will be pleased to see him back and getting up to his old shenanigans…"
While he did not reveal any specific details, it is likely that Max's big storyline will revolve around his and Rainie's divorce - with viewers last seeing the former drug addict playing dirty in a bid to secure a big pay-out for herself and new beau Stuart.
In addition to temperature checks before they can enter the studio, EastEnders have also put strict social distancing procedures in place - with the cast being seen filming with dummies so that they don't get too close to their colleagues.
New episodes are expected to be ready for our screens in September, with EastEnders cutting episodes down to 20-minutes, four times a week.
