RHONY’s Ramona Singer says it was ‘never her intention’ to shame Leah McSweeney’s bipolar disorder after fan backlash
RAMONA Singer has insisted it was "never my intention" to shame Leah McSweeney after Real Housewives of New York fans saw her gossiping about Leah's bipolar disorder.
On Thursday's episode of the Bravo series, Ramona told Sonja Martin: "I found out she’s bipolar and she’s on medication and I know people who are bipolar and you cannot mix alcohol with meds, it makes you act not responsible. It’s actually very dangerous."
Taking to Twitter on Friday morning, Ramona responded to the backlash from fans, writing: "It was never my intention to shame Leah about her mental health issues.
"I understand its her story to tell. Takes a lot of courage & strength for her to go public in an article about her struggles, which I admire.
"I only wish her well & want to help support her in the right way."
During the episode, Ramona later spoke to the cameras during her confessional, claiming friends sent her a blog post Leah has published several years prior.
She said: "They go, ‘Ramona listen, this Leah girl, she writes a blog and on a blog she says she’s bipolar.'
"That explains it all!”
Leah and Ramona have been feuding since Leah joined the cast in 2019, and Sonja, 56, later questioned Ramona's motives, telling the cameras during her confessional: "Why is Ramona telling me this and where is she getting this information. Is it true even? I’m getting along well with Leah."
afer Dorinda Medley asked her what was going on between the pair.
The 39-year-old said: "Before the trip to Mexico, Sonja called me and let it slip out that Ramona was gossiping about me having bipolar disorder which I find repulsive."
When Dorinda asks who told Ramona about Leah's diagnosis, she adds: "I never told her, she must have been doing some digging which is also very weird."
She continued: “I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder on my 30th birthday and really dedicated the last seven years of my life to getting it under control and to getting myself in a good place.
"I’m not even on medication, so for her to be talking about it in this way is despicable.”
