Jeff Bridges reveals Lymphoma diagnosis but says his ‘serious disease’ has a ‘good prognosis’

JEFF Bridges revealed on Monday he has been diagnosed with Lymphoma but says he’s “fortunate” after being given a “good” prognosis by doctors. 

The 70-year-old icon admitted the type of cancer is “serious” but is optimistic as he begins his treatment with a “great” medical team.

Jeff made the announcement on Twitter today, beginning the message on a lighter note with a nod to his character. 

He wrote: “As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light. 

"I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. 

“I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.

“I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends.

“Thank you for your prayers and well wishes.  And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together. "

Immediately after sharing the sad news, the beloved star was flooded with love from fans and fellow celebrities. 

Comedian Kathy Griffin replied to his tweet, saying: “Jeff, sending you the wish, the hope, that you get everything you need and anything you want.”

“You’re a fighter. You can beat this,” George Takei urged. 

Fellow Oscar winner Patricia Arquette wrote: “Sending you and your family love and healing.”

According to WebMD, lymphoma is “cancer that begins in infection-fighting cells of the immune system.”

The spleen, lymph nodes and bone marrow are all impacted by the severe disease.

Jeff did not specify which type of lymphoma he has, the cancer typically falls under two different kinds, Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Treatment usually includes chemotherapy, radiation therapy, various prescription pills and a stem-cell transplant in some cases. 

Jeff’s last working credit was Bad Times At The El Royale that was released in 2018 and filmed the year prior.

However, he is currently in production with a TV mini-series drama, The Old Man. 

The True Grit star lives at his Los Angeles mansion with his wife-of-43 years, Susan Geston.
