‘It’s bull**** I jumped off a bridge!’ Troubled singer Sinead O’Connor says she’s “far too happy” to take her own life
Star has a history of mental health issues and contacted her family an hour ago
SINEAD O'Connor has slammed reports she planned to jump off a bridge in Chicago saying she is "far too happy" to take her own life.
In audio obtained by US site the police department in Chicago received word from Irish authorities that the singer had contacted her family and said she intended to jump off a bridge in the Chicago area.
The singer took to her Facebook page this morning writing that '"it's bull****' I jumped off a bridge".
She wrote: "(Oh and by the way it's bullshit I jumped off a bridge, some stupid bitch up at Swords Garda station decided she'd like to throw a bit of false and malicious gossip about is all).
"AM FAR TOO F***ING HAPPY FOR THAT!!"
Sinead also went on a rant about Britain leaving the EU and Irish republicanism.
She wrote: "IRELAND IS OFFICIALLY NO LONGER OWNED BY BRITAIN!!!!
"CONGRATS TO EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD WHO EVER DIED FOR THE CAUSE OF IRISH FREEDOM, AND ALSO TO ALL THOSE INCLUDING MYSELF, WHO HAVE BEEN PERSECUTED MERCILESSLY BY THE IRISH SO CALLED FREE-STATE FOR HAVING DECLARED SUPPORT FOR SINN FEIN AND THE REPUBLICAN MOVEMENT.

"IRELAND 4 ENGLAND 0!!!"
Sinead has continued to update her Facebook page with quotes from the bible.
In the late 1990s, Sinead was ordained as a priest by Bishop Michael Cox of the Irish Orthodox Catholic and Apostolic Church, which is separate from the Catholic Church.
She wrote: "Thought for the day Of The Baptist.. Sometimes the rage of a soul is equivalent to the size of that soul's knowledge of and desire to revel in it's glorious God given right to LIVE.
"Free as it was created in the beginning. When there was NOTHING BUT THE WORD."
On Thursday night, police were not believed to be actively searching for the star but remained on the lookout just in case.
Officer Thomas Sweeney, a spokesperson for the Chicago Police department, said they had been contacted by the Irish Authorities who said her family believed she was suicidal.
Mr Sweeney said officers later spotted someone threatening to jump off a bridge over a Chicago expressway but it was a 54-year-old man who was later taken to hospital.
The 49-year-old singer caused alarm back in May after disappearing from her Chicago home for 36 hours.
Sinead had reportedly gone missing after going for a bike ride in the suburb of Wilmette and never coming home.
At one point she was being reported as 'missing suicidal' by the authorities but was later found safe at a hotel.
The star was taken off social media after her disappearance due to a series of worrying messages regarding her family and her mental state.
One Facebook post featured an ominous quote from American anti-slavery campaigner Harriet Tubman.
It read: “I had reasoned this out in my mind, there was one of two things I had a right to, liberty or death.
“If I could not have one, I’ll have the other.”
