CORONATION Street’s resident love rat, Dev Alahan will be shocking fans with his antics once again next week, when he wakes up next to Mary Taylor.

The shopkeeper is horrified when he realises he’s spent the night with loyal friend and nanny to his children, Mary, who fans believe has always harboured strong feelings for the father-of-three.

The unexpected tryst happens when the Corrie favourites, played by Jimmi Harkishin and Patti Clare, arrive a spa hotel and discover there has been a mix-up with the booking, meaning they’ll have to share a room, after Dev’s partner Erica Holroyd cancels.

At first this isn’t an issue, as the two have been friends for years, and Mary looks after Dev’s youngest children Aadi and Asha.

But the comedy of errors leads to a night together that Dev instantly regrets.

Pictures show the pair wearing matching white bath robes, and cuddling in bed.

Dev then looks mortified when he discovers what has happened, while Mary enthuses about the fantastic time she’s had.

After all the hard work Mary put into matchmaking Dev and Erica, played by Clare King, sparks are set to fly once the feisty shop assistant discovers that her besotted partner has done the dirty on her.

Mary is the latest in a long line of women that Dev has had flings with, which include Deirdre Barlow, Tracy Barlow and Geena Gregory, and viewers will no doubt be left wondering whether Mary will finally have a happy ending with Dev.
