EAMONN Holmes was left squirming on live TV during a sex toy party chat, in which wife Ruth Langsford admitted she had been to one of the “fun and hilarious” parties.

The couple were interviewing actress Angela Griffin about her new TV show Brief Encounters, which is about the rise of Anne Summer’s sex toy parties during the 1980s, but Eammon struggled to see the appeal of these female orientated events.

The confused 56-year-old presenter said: “Angela, let me ask you about these parties and the men there.

“I would think still to this day you’re less likely to get men together to say ‘whay hey, let’s buy sex aids’ and swap stories with each other.

“Why would women want to share this?”

To which Ruth, 56, surprised him with the fact that she had been to one.

“It’s a laugh, we just have a laugh with it,” she said.

“You say did I ever go to one, I did.

“It was a hen party, it’s fun, this is hilarious, this is fun, the wine was out, and there would be somebody selling this stuff.”

“And there was no embarrassment?” asked a bewildered Eamonn

“A little bit,” replied Ruth.

“But it was girls together.”

Angela, tried to help explain to Eamonn the draw of the sex toy parties, telling him: “Women like talking and women and women like sharing, and there is nothing better than finding out the woman next to you is into the same thing as what you are.”

However, Ruth confirmed to her baffled husband: “You would have been shocked.”

Poor Eamonn then went on to say his Northern Irish roots were responsible for his lack of Anne Summer’s parties knowledge.

“I can’t emphasise enough how different it was 35 years ago, particularly somewhere like Ireland.

“I’m not saying it’s the same now at all, there have been great strides into something or another in that time…”
