Coronation Street’s Jack P. Shepherd cried for the first time over Kylie Platt death scenes
Actor is devastated to lose on-screen wife, played by Paula Lane

JACK P. Shepherd cried for the first time ever over a Coronation Street script when he read Kylie Platt's "harrowing" death scenes.
The 28-year-old has starred in the ITV soap as David Platt for 16 years, but the decision to kill off his on-screen wife - played by Paula Lane - marked the first time the actor had ever shed a tear over a plot.
When Phillip Schofield pointed out the scenes have been billed as "a death never seen in a soap before", Jack agreed with the statement, saying: "Yes, they did tell me actually when the scripts were coming out, they did say, ‘they’re very harrowing and they’re very emotional.'
"And I read them and I’ve never read any scenes before and cried, and as I was reading them I was crying, I couldn’t stop crying."
Phil was shocked to learn the actor had never shed a tear before, saying: "All the time you’ve done Corrie that’s the first time a script made you cry?"

Jack replied: "Yeah. Filming the scenes when she does die, me and Paula were crying all the way through them and we physically couldn’t stop.
"They are so harrowing, it’s just that."
Jack has worked with Paula - who is leaving to focus on the birth of her second child - for six years, and knows how disappointed the fans will be to see their partnership come to an end.
He added: "She will be missed, not just because it’s Paula, but David and Kylie have this such strong relationship.
"He’s going to be left to bring up two kids on his own and they’re going to lose their mum as well."
Holly Willoughby then mentioned the scenes where David is packing up Kylie's stuff after her death, and Jack was initially unsure whether he could talk about it.
But when it was confirmed it was OK to discuss the aftermath of his on-screen wife's demise, he said: "How he deals with it after, he has good days and bad days but some days he’s like ‘I’m fine, I’m fine’."
Phillip also took the opportunity to ask Jack how he felt about the decision to air the show six times a week from next year.
The actor replied: "Extra episodes next year , six episodes, I’m not sure how the schedule will cope but yeah.
"It’ll be interesting, we’ll see."
Kylie's death will air on Coronation Street next week.
