TAYLOR Swift's relationship with Calvin Harris reportedly broke down following a spat over a huge hit song she allegedly wrote for him.
A US report suggests Taylor was the secret writer behind chart smash This Is What You Came For, and allegedly became enraged when he later publicly declared they would never work together.
Calvin scored a huge hit when he released the song with Rihanna on vocals in April, topping charts across the globe and racking up millions of downloads.
Rumours suggested Taylor was the brains behind the song, but they decided not to release it as a couples collaboration.
The singer reportedly kept the publishing rights and used the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg to distance herself from the track.
However, a report published on TMZ.com suggests the secret collaboration caused a massive bust-up between the pair when Calvin publicly declared he would never work with his famous girlfriend.
He made the comments on the day of the song's release on 29 April during an appearance on Ryan Seacrest's US radio show.
When Ryan asked, "Will you do a collaboration with your girlfriend?" Calvin replied, "You know we haven't even spoken about it. I can't see it happening though."
The website reports that remark infuriated Taylor and the spat ultimately led to the breakdown of their relationship.
Calvin's doomed radio interview came just days before Taylor's now infamous appearance at the lavish Met Gala in New York, where she was caught on camera dancing with her now-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston.
The end of the couple's relationship was confirmed early last month, with Calvin releasing a statement on Twitter insisting he has nothing "love and respect" for Taylor.
The break-up news came just days before The Sun exclusively revealed Taylor had struck up a romance with hunky Brit Tom.
The news the reported fall-out between Taylor and Calvin over a song comes after a similar issue led to the end of his romance with pop star Rita Ora.
The pair collaborated on hit track I Will Never Let You Down, which was released in March, 2014, just three months before they ended their year-long romance.
The song prompted a public battle between the former lovers when Calvin reportedly banned Rita from performing it at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles.
Rita later admitted their relationship went "weird" after the song came out.
She told Marie Claire: "I thought he had my back and that he’d never steer me wrong.
"But then I Will Never Let You Down came out, and everything started to go a bit weird.
"I don’t know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what."
