She replied: “You know what? All will be revealed very very soon.

“We have a few interesting things that we will be sharing with everybody… all the people that want to know.”

She also clarified concerns about the band’s change of name as she explained: “GEM is the name of our website - we’re always going to be Spice Girls. I think people are getting it a bit confused with GEM."

But she did reveal that the trio might have some new music in the pipeline as she went on to admit: “We’ve been in the studio, kind of experimenting with some different sounds and stuff like that. But nothing we’ll be able to share just yet.”

Mel joined Emma Bunton and Geri Horner (nee Halliwell) to reveal the comeback news last week in a clip that instantly went viral.

In the message on their newly launched site, which starts with a shot of the trio (pictured), they said: “You’ve stood by us for 20 years and we want to say a big thank you.

“We’ve had our ups and downs but you have always been there.

“We want to celebrate and have a party, and when we do, you’re invited.”

After running out of time to organise something for this year, they have agreed to perform a huge London show next July, which would be an undeniable treat for more than 65,000 Spice fans.
