Coronation Street viewers left shocked as Steve McDonald is revealed as dad of Leanne Battersby’s baby
Those watching at home were not expecting this latest twist

Corrie viewers were left gobsmacked this evening as they discovered that Steve McDonald is the father of Leanne Battersby’s baby.
The truth came out during a showdown between the pair– leaving even poor Steve rather surprised.
The news is particularly shocking because over the next couple of weeks viewers will learn that Steve’s wife Michelle is also pregnant.
Dropping the bombshell Leanne told Steve: "I'm sorry, Steve - I'm pregnant and it's yours."
Distressed about the news Steve ranted: "One mistake! One stupid mistake and now this!
"It didn't mean anything. It was pointless."
While Steve assumed that she would be having an abortion, Leanne broke the news that she was keeping the child.
Their bristly encounter ended with her telling him: "You get on with your life. I get on with mine. End of."
Discussing the news one Twitter user wrote: “Lmfao I can't believe Steve had sex with Leanne and he's the baby daddy....when the f**k did this happen?! @itvcorrie #CoronationStreet.”
Another joked: “Steve McDonald Weatherfield's most fertile man." #coronationstreet.”
While someone else added: “Steve and Leanne ???????????????? did not see that coming ???????? #coronationstreet #itv @ITV.”
Others were struggling to remember when the liaison between the pair occured – while others more concerned about the fact he had cheated on Michelle.
Simon – who plays Steve – opened up about finding out about the dramatic story line.
He told us: “It comes out of the blue really – probably the wrong turn of phrase.
"Jane and I were like, where has this come from? So they wrote scripts for it, they wrote scenes for it which makes sense to us – absolutely no sense to the viewers of course!
"It’s like they go round, they are both in a bad place. Michelle thinks Steve has gone and it’s all over. They start drinking a glass of wine and she’s in leather… and yeah, that was it!”

"There’s a lot of scope for comedy, even though it’s a dramatic thing which is good."
He added joking: "I said to [show bosses] when it turned out it could be Steve’s that the baby has to have massive ears and a widow’s peak.”
