POP princess Selena Gomez caused concern after sharing an emotional post about “rethinking areas of her life” to her 91 million followers.
The former Disney star, who recently turned 24, penned the heartfelt post after performing in Indonesia on her Revival world tour.
The Instagram upload, which has since gathered over 1 million likes on the social media site, reads: “Tonight I felt extremely unauthentic, unconnected to both myself and my music.
“I’ve never really felt like my materials, wardrobe or a video could define me. I act on a moment and fear something that hasn’t happened. I’m stagnant, I stay still and don’t just sit with myself first and ask ‘is this where I am, whole heartedly?’
“I’ve always told the truth. I’m always true to my word, I’ve shown who I am but I need to rethink some areas of my life creatively and personally. Hard to get that out.”
Many fans quickly reached out to the singer, with 33,000 comments flooding the post.
Her words came after unexpectedly changing some of her stage costumes during her show in Indonesia on Saturday.
Several fans suggested Selena opted for less raunchy outfits to “obey rules and culture" while in the country.
A concert-goer later reached out to the star, writing: “I personally had fun last night despite how you felt about yourself. I sincerely thanked you to cover up a little bit much and for all the contents that didn't show up.
“There are rules to be obeyed and culture not to be ignored. If you thought you didn't give your all due to lots of things didn't work (e.g. you had to cover up and some videos were unacceptable) the way it should've, maybe you're the one who should rethink what your music is all about.”
Another added: “Indonesian say sorry selena about our culture makes you untotally in ur concert here [sic].”
