EAMONN Holmes has opened up to fans about "learning to walk again" as he was left dependent on crutches in his chronic pain battle.

The TV presenter, who was diagnosed with a dislocated pelvis and three slipped discs in March, has given his following an insight into his recovery.

Taking to Twitter, Eamonn, 61, compared his recovery journey to re-learning to walk as he admitted he was undergoing extensive therapy.

Continuing to depend on crutches to walk, the star lost nerves in his right leg due to the injury and explained he was trying to strengthen his muscles.

Dressed in workout gear, Eamonn told the camera: "OK I'm still crutch dependent and the idea is to get rid of this and the man that's going to get rid of this for me is this man James Davis!"

James Davis, a physiotherapist, revealed how he had been "treating Eamonn for a couple of weeks" during the "rehab stage" of his recovery.

Eamonn chimed in of the exercise regime: "This all looks very simple and it is very simple except it's like learning to walk again.

"I've lost nerves in my right leg and there's certain actions I can't do so even the most simple thing is hard but it's getting better."

In the clips, Eamonn worked out in his garden before getting a massage on a treatment table as he tried to stabilise his pelvis and lower spine.

"The whole recuperation path there's so many aspects to it," he continued. "James is the boss man and you know, he has me here on the treatment table. Some of it is quite pleasant.

"Not a lot if it but I know he's doing a good job and do you think we're making progress? Lots! That shows you how bad I was in the first place.

"But the treatment table and his magic hands very, very important."

As the video wrapped up, Eamonn could be seen putting on pressure socks, which promote circulation to help the nerve endings in his legs.

"To round the day or the session off I put on my socks!" he detailed. "These are pressure socks, don't worry I'm perfectly safe in them.

"These are used by a lot of elite athletes to help the healing process. In the meantime, it is so comfortable I think I'll just do 45 minutes and maybe doze off."

It comes after Eamonn revealed how circulation boosters have helped him "get back out there" doing simple daily activities.

He told The Sun of the treatment: "I had a bit of difficulty with waking before and after a double hip operation."

Eamonn has also alleviated his pain with physiotherapy and ice cold showers after finding out about his injuries in March.

He found out about the dislocated pelvis after an MRI pain when his pain escalated, joking that the injury is "nowhere near as erotic as it sounds".

He told the Irish Independent: "I mysteriously dislocated my pelvis and I don't know how — it's not as erotic as it sounds.

"My back is now out of alignment as a result."

He went on to detail the "scary" reality of the number of people living with chronic pain - a topic he was unaware of before his injury.

"Nobody knows what it's like unless they live with someone who has it.' he said. "I'm in huge pain and nobody knows how to stop it.

"This hurts like hell and I need to find a way to overcome it. It has lasted a month and it feels like I can't remember what life was like without the pain."
