James Argent shows off five stone weight loss and surgery scars as he trains for charity swim in Dover
JAMES Argent showed off his recent five stone weight loss as he trained in Dover today.
The 33-year-old is gearing up to take part in two charity swims and headed to an intensive training camp for some tips.
Looking happy and healthy, the former Towie star stripped off to his swim shorts, revealing his recent surgery scars.
He waded into the English channel and despite the warm weather today, he appeared to find it a bit chilly.
Arg joined a series of other swimmer taking part in the course at Varne Ridge, a centre which helps prepare people to swim across the channel.
He will be staying in Kent to partake in early morning and night swims in the sea.
This month Arg will participate in two open water challenges, the John West Great North Swim and the John West Great East Swim.
James said: “Swimming is like meditation to me and when I'm in the pool it gives me the chance to clear my mind and focus only on swimming.
“I've got big aspirations to swim across the English Channel, and from Europe to Africa, and I know that the John West Great Swim Series organise two fantastic events in Lake Windermere and Alton Water, that will act as the perfect stepping stones to helping me achieve my dreams.
“I'm really excited to be back in the pool to start my training again and can't wait to take part in both the swim events this June.”
He previously failed to swim the channel in 2019 when he took part in Channel 4’s Sink or Swim, as the water was deemed too dangerous for them to continue.
Since then James has undergone surgery to have a gastric sleeve fitted and he’s already feeling better for it.

Detailing how he felt prior to the surgery, he told Steph’s Packed Lunch: "It felt horrible, I was always extremely uncomfortable, I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror.
"It felt depressing and it just wasn’t me. Now I’m starting to feel like myself again and I’m excited about what the future is going to bring.
“It was scary being 27 stone… It was serious, doctors were telling me how dangerous it was… I knew it was something I had to address pretty quickly."
