Brooklyn slammed by campaigners for setting ‘bad example’ by holding phone while driving

BROOKLYN Beckham has been slammed by road safety campaigners for driving while clutching his mobile phone.

The 17-year-old starlet was filmed at the wheel with an iPhone in his hand by  girlfriend Chloe Grace Moretz.

Hollywood actress Chloe, 19, uploaded the video to Instagram with the caption “Day trips”.

The loved-up couple were taking a spin in Brooklyn’s new open-top Jeep in Beverly Hills.

There is no suggestion that footie legend David Beckham’s son was using the phone while driving.

Brooklyn only received his licence weeks ago after passing his driving test in July.

Communicating with a mobile without using a hands-free device is illegal in California.

However a court ruling allows drivers to look at a smartphone to check maps.

Drivers in the UK are banned from any use of a handheld mobile phone when driving.

Campaigners said Brooklyn was setting a bad example to young drivers who idolise the teen star.

Gary Rae of road safety charity Brake said: “For a really cool family, this isn’t a cool thing to do.

“The law might be different in California, but the risk remains the same. Have a word with him, David.”

Earlier this year Brooklyn risked a fine and three points on his provisional licence as he practised driving in London.

The youngster was spotted without an L plate on the front of the plush Mercedes C-Class motor he was driving.

Although there was one on the back, learner drivers have to display two plates at the front and rear of their vehicle.
