An aerospace nerd, a pastor and a garden designer are among the new contestants on The Great British Bake Off

MARY Berry and Paul Hollywood are back for another year to find Britain's best baker.
With of The Great British Bake Off hitting our screens next Wednesday, we take a look at this year's contestants.
The ex-porky arts worker
TOM, 26, was a Royal Society of Arts worker who left his native Rochdale, Gtr Manchester, for a career in education.
He has lost nearly five stone and now lives in East London with wife Katie.
The teaching assistant twin
BENJAMINA, 23, from South London, is a teaching assistant who recently graduated with a first class degree.
She’s a perfectionist, has a twin sister and follows “online cake fashion” for inspiration.
The big-heated Norfolk nurse
KATE, 37, from Norfolk, is a nurse on an acute ward who bakes treats for patients with fruit from her parents’ farm.
The mum-of-two says she often works through the night to make flawless creations.
The heel-loving PE teacher
CANDICE, 31, from Bedfordshire, is a PE teacher who lives with boyfriend Liam and pug Dennis.
She breaks in heels while baking and hopes she can be “even half the lady” her nan was.
The charity-fan support worker
RAV, 28, from Erith, South East London, is a university support worker and charity volunteer.
He’s from a “huge and extremely close” family, is inspired by Far Eastern cuisine and likes to use “unusual” ingredients.
The Northern Irish aerospace whizz
ANDREW, 25, from Northern Ireland, is an aerospace engineer with Rolls-Royce.
The Cambridge grad was taught to bake by his mum and gran – one family recipe is a Concorde made out of baguettes.
The Welsh hairdresser
LOUISE, 46, from Cardiff, is a hairdresser who lives with her fiance Simon.
Originally from nearby Merthyr Tydfil, she got into baking about ten years ago after making cakes at work to raise money for charity.
The ex-primary school head
YORKSHIRE-born Val, 66, is a retired headteacher who says she can bake the classics with her “eyes closed”.
Val lives in Yeovil, Somerset, with husband Ian and likes doing aerobics while she bakes.
The Ghanaian finance worker
SELASI, 30, moved from Ghana to the UK with his family 15 years ago.
The finance worker and keen motorcyclist also tackles half marathons and treks for two new charities a year in his free time.
The garden designer
JANE, 61, gets up at 5am every day to bake bread after being inspired by her bakery owner grandad.
The garden designer lives with husband Ray in Beckenham, South London.
The Lancashire church pastor
LEE, 67, from Bolton, started baking after he put his back out playing cricket.
The former builder says he got emotional recently when his grandson sent a picture of a cake he had made to his girlfriend.
The student with Cypriot heritage
MICHAEL, 20, studies politics and economics at Durham university.
He is from London but has Cypriot heritage, and enjoys making “big, grand cakes” when he’s not playing football for his college team.
