We revealed last weekend that Will Young, 37, has taken ballet lessons for 11 years. A source said: "Strictly Come Dancing is about teaching celebrities a new skill, but some of them have a distinct advantage and have been dancing for years."

"OK they might not have done ballroom before but they know the dance terms, they know about keeping time, they are good at performing and they are used to learning routines.

"It means it’s a really unfair playing field and celebrities like Ed Balls will have to work much harder to keep up."

When Anastacia, 48, was revealed as a contestant, she said: “I’ve got a lot of training to do before I’m twinkletoes.”

Daisy also said she had no experience, saying: “This is completely different from anything I have ever done before.”
