STRICTLY BALLSROOM

Ed Balls is the leading man at Strictly Come Dancing launch…despite being the bookies favourite to leave first

Politician was a hit with the ladies as he waltzed his way down the red carpet with Laura Whitmore and Daisy Lowe

ED Balls proved to be The Don of the dancefloor at the Strictly Come Dancing launch - despite being the bookies favourite to be voted off first.

The former Labour shadow chancellor was the first celebrity to be confirmed for the 2016 series, having shown a passion for dancing at a number of party conferences in the past.

Taking to the red carpet on Tuesday night for the launch alongside his fellow contestants, the 49-year-old was clearly in his element, dancing with a number of beautiful women during the evening.

First to fall under the politician's powers was Irish TV presenter Laura Whitmore, who looked stunning in a bright yellow backless mini dress.

The 31-year-old giggled as she was twirled around and pulled in for a pose or two by Ed, who looked delighted to have the blonde beauty on his arm.

But Ed, who looked dapper in a midnight blue tuxedo, soon set his sights on model Daisy Lowe, who looked ravishing in a revealing red dress.

Grinning broadly, the pair posed for pictures with their arms around each other before Ed said something to make the 27-year-old giggle.

Next up was professional dancer Janette Manrara, who enjoyed bumping hips and dancing around with the former MP.

But despite Ed's best moves on the red carpet, Paddy Power has given him odds of 66/1 to win the series, placing him in last place and in turn, suggesting he could be the first contestant to get the boot.

At the other end of the table, Olympic gymnast Claudia Fragapane is the frontrunner to win the show with odds of 7/2.

She is followed by singer Will Young at 4/1, while Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac and former pop star Louise Redknapp are joint third at 6/1.

Laura is 8/1, while Daisy and Olympic bronze medallist Greg Rutherford are both at 10/1.

Ore Oduba has odds of 12/1 while Melvin Odoom, Naga Munchetty, Tameka Empson, Anastacia and Judge Rinder are all level at 20/1, leaving Birds of a Feather actress Lesley Joseph at 40/1 just ahead of Ed.
