Ed Balls makes the nation cringe with awkward moves as new series of Strictly Come Dancing blasts off
ED BALLS made the nation cringe last night with a dodgy dad-dancing routine on Strictly.
The former shadow chancellor awkwardly tried to strut his stuff with partner dancer Katya Jones.
Viewers were subjected to seeing him flailing his hands in the air and shimmying behind the pretty Russian.
Beaming Balls looked like he was loving every minute – but Twitter users weren’t so sure.
One simply blasted: “The state of Ed Balls…”
Other celebs including Daisy Lowe, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are all fighting the prancing politician for the Strictly Come Dancing crown.
The show began with Tess and Claudia steering a rocket back to earth in time for the show.
Judge Darcy Bussell 'activated' the professional dancers and made them wake from their space pods.
Craig Revel Horwood busted out some moves and shocked the audience by dancing Gangnam Style dressed as Darth Vader.
Presenter Tess Daley called the routine "out of this world."

Some have said that this series' pairings are the hottest EVER.
Italian hunk Giovanni is dancing with Irish presenter Laura Whitmore and sexy model Daisy Lowe – who caused temperatures to rise with her racy and revealing red dress at the launch – was matched with former champion Aljaz.
