Will there be a Girls Aloud reunion?

Girls Aloud will reunite for the first time in nine years for a one-off gig in memory of their late bandmate Sarah Harding.

Nadine Coyle has revealed she will return to the stage with Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberley Walsh, and Nicola Roberts for a show following Sarah’s breast cancer death last September, aged 39.

The group, formed on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, had planned a reunion tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary, which was scrapped after Sarah’s death.

This one-off event is expected to take place in late 2022.

All five members of Girls Aloud performed together for the last time in March 2013 in Liverpool.

They had a private reunion in the Cotswolds in 2020 following Sarah’s breast cancer diagnosis.

What have Girls Aloud said about reuniting?

Nadine said in a statement: “We’re planning a night for an event to raise money in honour of Sarah.

“We want to do something to help others.

“She’s very much in the forefront of our minds.

“When she became unwell, a lot of my energy was focused on her.

“Her passing has been so devastating.”

It is a U-turn from February 2022, when Kimberley said she did not think it would be right to reunite without Sarah.

She said at the time: “I think our heads are not in a space to be doing anything as a band.”

What happened to Sarah Harding?

On September 5, 2021 Sarah died aged 39 barely 12 months after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer in August 2020 and underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy in a bid to prolong her life.

The singer's mum Marie confirmed the heartbreaking news of her daughter's death - saying her "shining star" had "slipped away" after bravely fighting the disease for 12 months.

She wrote: "It's with deep heartbreak that today I'm sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away.

"Many of you will know of Sarah's battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day.

"She slipped away peacefully this morning. I'd like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved.
