Natalie Portman swaps her red carpet gowns for laidback chic as she enjoys a day off

After weeks of film festivals and travelling the actress is spotted enjoying some down time

WITH two films to promote, it’s been a hectic month for Natalie Portman, but now the actress is back in California enjoying some time off as she returns to mum duties and runs errands around down.

The Oscar winning actress, 35, was dressed a far cry for her red carpet attire of recent weeks but still looked every inch the style icon dressed casually in a crisp white shirt, denim shorts and sandals.

These pictures come on the back of a jet set week which has seen Natalie promote her two upcoming films Planetarium and Jackie in Venice, Italy and Toronto, Canada.

Despite being one of Hollywood’s most celebrated and sought-after actresses, Natalie recently opened up about how when she is away from the cameras her life is just about looking after her son.

Opening up recently about being a mother in a piece she wrote for The New York Times’ T Magazine, she said: “When I’m not working, I’m pretty much exclusively with my family, so my rituals have to do with school, meal preparation, playdates, bedtime.

“[Parenthood] made me much calmer under stress, because there’s that weird parent thing you develop, that when things get really bad, your voice gets calm and your blood pressure slows, and you can make everything okay again.”

Natalie also said it had made her more aware of how fleeting time was.

She explained: “Time goes exponentially fast as a parent.

“I hate saying it, cause ugh, we hated it so much when people said it to us.

“They always said it, and now we say it, and it’s awful, and we’re old. But it’s also true.”
