Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua set to reunite for The Equalizer 2 – but there will be a long wait
Like Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio, many of the greatest actors put off doing sequels for as long as possible.
But after a lengthy and prosperous career in cinema, Denzel Washington has finally signed up to his first ever sequel.
The actor will star in the follow-up film to The Equalizer, which hit cinemas back in 2014.
But not only that, the film's original director Antoine Fuqua will also return for the second movie, it has been revealed.
Based on the 80s TV show, the first movie starred Chloë Grace Moretz and Melissa Leo.
However it's not yet clear whether they will star in the sequel with Washington.
The Oscar-winner played the character of Robert McCall, a retired soldier who returns to his old life upon meeting a group of Russian gangsters.
While it was revealed the sequel was in the works back in 2015, it's been unclear whether both brains would be on board.
The only catch is that the original release date of September 29, 2017 is proving more and more unlikely.
Producer Todd Black, who confirmed the good news, also admitted they won't start shooting until then.
"The script is done," he said. "We start shooting right after Labor Day, maybe right before Labor Day depending on Denzel’s schedule.

"So Equalizer 2 will start shooting in September of next year, maybe earlier depending on another movie that we’re shooting with Denzel before that.
"We’re going to do a little bit more work and we’re going to go into casting right after that for his nemesis”.
