Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley makes startling Jennifer Lopez revelation on This Morning
Actress wants people to embrace her music career as she continues to appear in ITV soap
CORONATION Street's Catherine Tyldesley wants to be embraced as a singer and actress - just like Jennifer Lopez.
The 33-year-old is best known for her role as Eva Price in the ITV soap, but in recent months she has embarked on a singing career.
Speaking on Wednesday's This Morning, Cath spoke about her debut album and how she hoped the British public would embrace her as a musician as well as an actress.
She said: "It’s a funny one in this country, in America I think everything is embraced.
"I think if you’re an actress and you say ‘I’m going to do a bit of singing’ like Jennifer Lopez for example, then it’s embraced and people are like 'Yeah go for it!'
"But here they’re like ‘but you’re an actress’ and ‘you’re a singer’."
Viewers were quick to comment on her voice, with one comparing Catherine to another pop star altogether.

Catherine added how her co-star Shayne Ward had a similar battle to what she is going through after making the transition from X Factor winner to actor as Aidan Connor in Coronation Street.
She said: "I think Shayne had the same thing coming into Corrie, like ‘but you’re a singer’, and I just think if you like doing something go for it."
Cath and Shayne, 31, play boyfriend and girlfriend on the Cobbles, and love to hang out together off camera too, with the star adding: "His voice is amazing, we annoy everyone on set as we’re always singing together."
However things don't look like they're going to be as happy on screen for the pair, as Aidan's fling with Eva's friend Maria Connor is set to be exposed.
Catherine said: "I’m getting the scripts and my toes are curling. It’s getting so cringey.
"She lost Kylie [Platt] and she was her best friend and she’s sort of hoping for that with Maria now, all the while not knowing what’s gone on between Maria and Aidan.
"I can’t wait, it’s a slow burner, it’ll probably be in the new year and goes right through into the spring."
