Rebekah Vardy branded ‘cruel’ by friends of agent pal Caroline Watt after star ‘threw her under the bus’

REBEKAH Vardy has been branded “cruel” by friends of her agent pal Caroline Watt.

They accuse Becky of snubbing Caroline’s mental health struggles while talking about her own in the wake of the Wagatha Christie case.

Furious friends of Rebekah's agent pal Caroline Watt accuse the Wag of throwing her “under a bus”.

A source last night claimed Caroline, 40, is “paying the greatest price for Becky’s ruthless, self-centred actions”.

Pals said the mum of two has not worked for months because of exposure from Becky’s Wagatha Christie battle with Coleen Rooney.

They revealed that her husband Steve has worried about her being “suicidal”.

Friends blame “single-minded” Becky for not considering Caroline’s mental health while talking on TV about her own struggles.

Caroline — Becky’s agent for seven years — did not give evidence at the blockbuster High Court trial after a psychiatrist ruled she was unfit to appear.

Becky, 40, gave an exclusive interview to The Sun and spoke on Talk TV last week to protest her innocence after losing her libel claim against Coleen, 36 — a ruling that will cost her millions.

But friends of Caroline - known as Caz — said she didn’t even watch Becky’s TV interview.

They are said to be furious with Becky, who they say has been “cruel” and “selfish”.

A source said: “Becky is speaking out, talking about her own mental health, while she knows Caroline has been really suffering.

“Over the last few months she has been suicidal. She struggles day to day and would give anything to have her life go back to normal.

“But, even now the trial has passed, Becky is dragging it on.

“We’re worried about Caroline, she used to be the strongest and most confident of the lot of us but this has absolutely knocked her.

“She never wanted this to go to court and somehow is the one paying the greatest price for Becky's ruthless, self-centred actions.

“While Becky is loving the limelight Caroline is just trying to pull her life back together.

“We all think Becky has been selfish, single minded and cruel in the way she has gone head first into this and handled things.

“But even though she keeps throwing Caz under the bus, Caroline keeps sticking up for Becky and making excuses for her. She is so loyal to her.

“Caroline doesn’t have the cushion of being a millionaire — she isn’t rich.

“She hasn't worked for months now because of the court case - which she never wanted Becky to pursue. She knew it would just go away if Becky let it.

'MASSIVE STRAIN'

“The entire thing has been a massive strain for almost three years now for Caz.”

In his closing arguments at the seven-day trial in May, Becky’s lawyer Hugh Tomlinson QC, said she had “made mistakes”.

He added: “The most serious was to trust someone she shouldn’t have” — a reference to Caroline.

Then, after the verdict — delivered two months later — Becky told how she was targeted by trolls, her family had been sent death threats and she had considered suicide.

The trial also heard that Caroline had lost a mobile phone, containing messages to Becky, in the North Sea.

Coleen’s lawyer, David Sherborne, memorably described the bottom of the sea as “Davy Jones’s Locker” in court — a reference that baffled Becky and caused laughter in the courtroom.

Our source added: “Now Becky is doing everything she can to save her own skin while blaming everybody else — Coleen, her solicitors for telling her she would win, the judge for not knowing the case, and Caroline.

Caz was too sick to go to court and therefore she's become the scapegoat.

“Caz’s husband has been through it too. He had to stop working at times to look after her because she was very, very low.”

“The Davy Jones reference about the phone is a massive joke to many people but not to her or those who love her.

“She genuinely did drop it into the sea. Why would she lie about that? She had nothing to gain from it. The court had all of the messages between her and Becky.

“So losing it on purpose would have been utterly pointless.”

The night Becky — wife of Leicester City star Jamie, 35 — featured on TalkTV, Caz was seen with her family in a pub garden.

She told friends she didn't want to see the interview.

Our source added: She is just surrounding herself with people she can really trust now, she is riddled with paranoia and lives a very low key life.”

The’ battle between the two Wags had raged since October 2019, when Coleen posted a bombshell accusation that stories were leaked from her private Instagram and pointed the finger at mum-of-five Becky.

Becky — who is now considering TV offers — has insisted she did not leak material and that Coleen — wife of ex-England ace Wayne, 36 — had jumped to conclusions.

She said: “I wanted to clear my name, because I was accused of something I didn’t do.”
