James Arthur claims he’s been offered ‘life changing amounts of money’ to go on Celebrity Big Brother

SINGER James Arthur has said he’s been offered big bucks to appear on Celebrity Big Brother – and the money is ‘life changing’.

The reality show star has been faced with a lot of cash to go into the prolific house to raise his profile – but has turned it down.

“I am a huge, huge fan of Big Brother. I’m a super fan.

“I’ve watched it since I was a kid because I find it really interesting as a social experiment, but I could never do it,” he told the told

“I’ve been offered to do it before. I’ve been offered life-changing amounts of money to do those kinds of things, but once you venture into that as an artist it’s difficult for people to take you seriously in music.”

The previous winner of The X Factor 2012 is making his comeback after a trying few years after being dropped by his former label SyCo - and now being resigned.

And it looks like he’s on his way up again after having scored a number one with his single Say You Won’t Go.

The song is one off his appropriately-named new album Back From The Edge – about him fighting to pick himself up off the floor and starting again.

“The album is really honest. I talk about some dark times and how important it is to find yourself.

“It’s got a positive thread of hope through it but I do go to the depths in it.

“I talk about how I felt at certain times over the years while I was writing it.

“I was feeling like I’d ruined my chances to fulfil my purpose in life so yeah, it’s just honest.

"That’s how I’d describe it.”

On whether his breakdown was due to not having been prepared for fame, the 28-year-old said he could have had more help.

“I think there could be more.

"I don’t know if it was available because I went the other way and went inside myself and that’s how I did the wrong thing.

“Maybe there should be, like, something provided like welfare or after care.”

Back on form, he was hugged by fans as he left The X Factor studios this weekend after his triumphant return – even though he forgot his lyrics.

James later wrote on Twitter: “That was the most nerve wracking thing I’ve ever done so apologies for the pitchyness and incorrect lyrics, but thank you so much everyone.”
