Marc, 45, went on Twitter at the end of September in a rant where he branded Indians "b******s" and "p***-drinking c****".

But on Friday, Marc's character Sharif Nazir was the centre of attention as his wife Yasmeen confronted him over his affair with her best friend Sonia.

One angry viewer commented: "Everyone going on about #sharif  #corrie have you forgot about what Marc Anwar said, he doesn't deserve a send off!"

Another said: "#Corrie why is Sharif still there? I thought he'd been sacked." and "i thought sharif was sacked from #corrie?"

"@ITV seriously when are you going to sack that racist Marc Anwar? #coronationstreet"

Marc's original remarks came days after 17 soldiers were killed at an army base in Kashmir and sparked a UN clash between India and Pakistan.

He tweeted: “Why the F***k do #pakistaniartists want work in #f*** face #india, do you love money so much.”

Uploading an image of a clenched fist, he added: “Ban #india movies in #PakistanisLeaveIndia. B*****ds p**s drinking #c**ts.

“F***ing #indians killing our #Kashmir brothers and sisters, beygairth #NawazSharif still sucking #modi Lul!”

He later apologised for his remarks, explaining: "On Friday evening I saw on the news children being pulled out of rubble, people being pelted with pellets, women mourning their dead in Kashmir.

"This upset me very deeply and in a moment of madness I ranted out and vented my anger."
