‘A TOTAL BADASS’

The Walking Dead viewers praise Carl for taking matters with Negan into his own hands

Viewers have shared their delight at 'finally' seeing some action during a slow-paced series

Fans of The Walking Dead have spent the last few weeks waiting for someone to fight back against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

And they were full of praise while watching Sunday’s episode of the show after Carl (Chandler Riggs) bravely crossed into deadly territory to take on the villain at The Sanctuary where The Saviors live.

After what has been a slow and dreary few episodes, the latest 90-minute offering provided a lot more excitement and audiences were glad to see Rick’s son taking charge.

One viewer wrote, “I don't understand why ppl don't like/underestimate Carl. He's a boss! A total badass!”

Another agreed, “Carl is the coolest kid I've ever seen on a television series.”

And one viewer said seeing Carl and Negan together made for interesting viewing, tweeting, “This relationship between Negan and Carl is one of the most interesting on television right now. That dynamic is brilliant.”

An especially intense scene showed Negan forcing a crying Carl to remove the bandages covering his missing eye, and then to sing to him.

However some audience members thought that Carl didn’t exactly make the best decisions during the episode.

The teenager not only invaded The Sanctuary but also claimed he didn’t think Negan would kill him, leading the villain to take Carl home and play with his baby sister while waiting for his dad Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) to return home from a supply run.

One viewer mused, “Carl’s going balls to the wall. I don’t agree w/some of his moves but I can’t deny the fact that maybe he’ll be a big part in the end.”

It wasn’t all serious however, as others enjoyed poking fun at how Rick might react upon discovering that Negan had been holding and kissing his little girl.

Although not everyone agreed on Carl’s actions, viewers did seem pleased that the show is picking up the pace a bit.

Several shared that they were glad an "exciting" episode had "finally" aired, and will no doubt be hoping the writers can provide even more action during next week’s mid-series finale.
