Three characters meet bloody deaths in gruesome The Walking Dead midseason finale
Negan played a part in all three gory murders

THE Walking Dead hardly shies away from having its characters killed off in all manner of grisly ways.
And in Sunday’s mid-season finale episode viewers said goodbye to three players: Spencer (Austin Nichols), Olivia (Ann Mahoney) and Fat Joey (Joshua Hoover).
While Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) didn’t personally kill the latter two, he of course couldn’t make it through The Walking Dead finale without a brutal murder all of his own.
The villain disembowelled Spencer in a particularly gory scene, just as he did in the comic book series.
Things took a dramatic turn when Spencer asked Negan to put him in charge of Alexandria, assuring that he would be “a lot better off” if Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was edged out.
But Negan responded by telling Spencer that Rick was the one actually out risking his neck to get supplies, while he played pool and enjoyed drinks on the porch.
“That takes guts,” he said in a telling hint of what was about to happen. “Why not just kill Rick yourself and take over? You know what I’m thinking, I’ll take a guess. You’ve got no guts.”
He sliced Spencer open with a knife and his intestines fell to the ground in what was one of the most gruesome moments viewers have seen in recent episodes.
The last Monroe later turned into a walker and Rick, who had just returned from his supply run, stuck a knife through his head.

It was then that Rosita (Christian Serratos) pulled out the gun she had sneaked into the community - loaded with a bullet made by Eugene (Josh McDermitt) - and shot at Negan.
But she missed and hit his beloved barbed wire-covered baseball bat Lucille, leading a furious Negan to order his minion Arat (Elizabeth Ludlow) to “kill somebody” as punishment. She swiftly turned around and shot poor Olivia dead.
Rosita’s actions led to more than just Olivia’s death however, as Arat sliced her cheek open and Eugene was taken captive when the villain discovered he was the one behind the bullet.
Meanwhile after being given a key at the end of last week’s episode, we finally got to see Daryl (Norman Reedus) escape.
He got out of his cell and eventually The Sanctuary, beating Negan’s henchman Fat Joey to death before taking Rick’s gun and zooming off on his motorcycle.
Daryl made his way back to The Hilltop with Jesus (Tom Payne), where Rick and the rest of the group were agreeing to fight.
In an emotional moment Daryl and Rick shared a hug and were choking back tears when they were reunited.
Elsewhere Richard (Karl Makinen) asked Carol (Melissa McBride) to convince Ezekiel (Khary Payton) to attack The Saviors, suggesting we’re going to see more than one group take their chance against Negan when the show returns.
