X Factor reject ‘Croatian opera singer’ Antonia Mirat has convinced the press in her home country that was invited back to perform at final by Sharon Osbourne

The singer appears to have stretched the truth a touch about being on the show

X Factor reject Antonia Mirat has managed to convince the people of Croatia that she was invited back to last night’s final thanks to her singing talent.

The opera singer was in fact appearing on the show alongside some of the other memorable rejects from this year’s singing competition – not because she was a good singer but for entertainment.

However the Croatian press have been led to believe a rather different version of events -  thanks to a series of interviews she has given regarding her return to the show this weekend.

Speaking to Vecernji.hr, Antonia has claimed that Sharon Osbourne decided to bring her back to the show because she was her ‘favourite’ – suggesting she was Sharon’s ‘wildcard’ when that was in fact Saara Alto.

She said: “Each of the jury members got the opportunity to show to return some of the candidates who had been his favourite, and for Sharon I was the quiet favourite.

“Enabled me playing in the final because I had towards her opinion that its own seal, for her I was the X Factor.”

The singer went on to describe the opportunity as “a big deal for me, but also for our country”.

And in another interview with Vijesti, she appeared to claim that she has signed to Simon Cowell’s record label.

The news site, who lauded her for being the first woman from Croatia to perform at Wembley Stadium claimed she had now signed an ‘exclusive contract’ with Cowell.

While Antonia told them: "I look forward to working with the production company and its new album.

“This performance I dedicated my late parents, Mary and Marina who are infinitely believed in my success.”

Antonia’s X Factor audition raised eyebrows not only because of her yellow gown but also because of her singing  - as she belted out Mozart’s Queen Of The Night.

After she performed Simon told her: “I didn’t understand a word. It was like you were screaming at me.”

Despite Simon’s concerns she made it through to Boot camp, where she performed “Respect” by Aretha Franklin for the judges.

Simon however put his foot down at this stage and she didn’t progress any further in the competition.
