When is Isle of Dogs due out? Wes Anderson’s new movie – release date, cast details and first trailer
The American filmmaker has gathered an all star cast of A List talent for his animated film which he started creating in England in October 2016
Iconic film director Wes Anderson caused a flurry of excitement in 2016 when he announced he was returning to animation for his film project called Isle of Dogs.
The 47-year-old Texan was Oscar nominated for his 2009 stop-action animated adaptation of the Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox.
And while his George Clooney fronted feature may have had bags of star talent by adding Meryl Streep and Bill Murray to the list of famous faces adding character to the animated animals – the American star may have outdone himself with his dog themed animation.

When is Isle of Dogs being released?
There is going to be a little bit of a wait before Isle of Dogs will be released – with only a vague “2018” release date being slated so far.
While a more specific date is yet to be announced, the film was first mentioned in October 2015 when the director expressed an intention to make “a film about dogs”.
Production got underway a year later (in England) which Fox Searchlight Pictures acquired the rights to release the film in December 2016 – pitching a 2018 release date.
What is Isle of Dogs about?
As the name already suggests, Isle of Dogs will feature man’s favourite four legged friends – and the film title appears to be a pun on the neighbourhood of London that shares the name.
The film is written, directed and produced by Anderson who, as yet, is keeping details pretty firmly under wraps.
It is known that Edward Norton will play a lead role and his character is called Rex.
Who is starring in Isle of Dogs?
As well as Edward Norton, a whole host of other A List stars are providing their vocal abilities to bring the animals to life on screen.
Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Jeff Goldblum, F. Murray Abraham, and Tilda Swinton will be bringing their big screen gravitas to roles.
While further parts will be played by with Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, Ray Donovan’s Liev Schreiber, Marvel’s Avengers star Scarlett Johansson, music legend Yoko Ono, indie film maker Greta Gerwig, and The hunt for Red October’s Courtney B. Vance will also star.
Is there a trailer for Isle of Dogs?
A trailer is yet to be released for the film, but Wes did unleash a video relating to the film on 21 December 2016.
The film saw Wes and Edward discussing the project in typically kooky style.
While a near blink-and-you’ll-miss-it first look showed the animation come alive as Ed’s character Rex glanced at the screen.
