Girls Aloud break silence on band reunion as they reveal how they kept secret for MONTHS

GIRLS Aloud have promised Something Kinda Ooooh! on their 2024 tour after The Sun revealed their return to the spotlight.
The iconic pop group including Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts said they'd kept the reunion top secret for months as they stepped out in London today.
Today they confirmed they were reuniting to mark Girls Aloud's 21st anniversary with a 14 date tour across the country.
Cheryl, 40, said: "We want it to be the best, biggest, most amazing show it could possibly be."
They'll be taking to the stage without bandmate Sarah Harding and spoke of the tough few years that drove them back together following her devastating death in September 2021.
Kimberley, 42, told Zoe Ball today on BBC Radio 2: "Over the past couple of years we've felt this massive outpouring of love towards us, and it's been tough.
"But we were like, ok, we're feeling this love, maybe we need to do something."
Nicola, 38, chipped in, saying: "There's been a shift, a magical, so we thought lets go."
Echoing their excitment, Cheryl said: "We're so fortunate to have the fans and the loyalty is off the scale.
"I've never felt anything like it in 21 years!"
The band are reuniting after more than a decade away.
It will be the first time that they've performed together since tweeting their split in 2013, following a show in Liverpool.
The group said they'll begin rehearsals in April with the tour kicking off in May.
On entering discussions earlier this year, Nicola said: "Months and months we didn't tell our closest friends, our families didn't know."
Their big return to music could even include their kids joining them on stage, as mum-of-three Kimberley said: "I'm going to have to try and fight mine off I think, certainly the older two."
"They haven't really cared about Girls Aloud up until now. They were like, 'that was before we were born!'"
Cheryl's son Bear, who she shares with One Direction star Liam Payne, only recently discovered her music fame.
She joked: "He asked, 'mammy, may I ask, why all the nakedness?'
"Then he was curious as to why Kimberley was there and what she was doing and why we looked different now!"
She went on: "Do you know, the irony of how much I've tried for this to not happen and he is the one bursting at the seems, he's just full of it isn't he?"
Kimberley, who shares kids Bobby, eight, Cole, six, and Nate, two, with husband Justin scott, continued: "He's a little performer. He's just there. We've got a boyband between us."
Zoe pointed out that a gap in their 2024 tour schedule could make room for a slot at Glastonbury.
"Can I Just be blunt," Cheryl teased.
"Glastonbury haven't even asked us, but it's a nice idea isn't it?".
The band told how Sarah was part of early discussions to return to the stage berfore her shocking breast cancer diagnosis.
"Every step of this process since we decided has been weird to be honest," Cheryl said.
"When we started disccusing doing this, we started these discussions with Sarah, because we knew the 20 year anniversary was coming.
"It will never be the same, if I'm honest.
"We're going to try to keep her magic alive, her twinkle. She'll be there in spirit. She'll be there, we're going to celebrate her."
Tragically, Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. She passed away in September 2021, leaving the girls devastated.
Earlier this month, The Sun revealed that the remaining members of the band would be making a huge comeback after more than a decade away.
Girls Aloud formed in 2002 on TV talent show Popstars: The Rivals.
They enjoyed a hugely successful career with a string of sell-out concerts and No1 hits.
