Kate Garraway reveals health update on husband Derek Draper as he’s back in hospital in the countdown to Christmas
KATE Garraway has given an update on husband Derek Draper's condition with just weeks to go until Christmas.
The Good Morning Britain star's spouse remains in hospital for routine treatment as his recovery from life-changing coronavirus side effects continues.
She told : "Derek’s in hospital having some treatment. It’s not an emergency thing, it’s not a dramatic rush back into intensive care thank goodness – it’s something that started last year that we hope will lead to improvement."
Last week Kate, 56, revealed Derek, 56, wasn't at the family home in London.
Loose Women anchor Charlene White asked how Derek was on the ITV show, to which Kate replied: "Funnily enough he's back in hospital at the moment. I haven't talked about this. Not for horrific drama fortunately.
"Because there had been lots of, as we've all experiences, referrals and cancellations.

"He's gone back in for something that he began last year, which he needed the second part, which will hopefully mean he has more movement.
"So it's a positive hospital thing. So he's actually not at home at the moment.
"Hopefully he won't be in for too long."
Former political lobbyist Derek was left in a critical condition when he contracted Covid in 2020.

He was induced into a coma and spent 13 months in hospital where medics worked against the odds to save his life as the virus ravaged his organs.
Derek finally returned to his family home in April 2021 but required around the clock care.
Kate has juggled being a mother-of-two with caring for Derek and her work commitments ever since.
Her friend and GMB co-star recently Susanna Reid confessed she had "no idea" about the "burden" shouldered by Kate.
Speaking to raise awareness for National Carers Rights Day, Kate said: "Is not really about demands, although there are many.
"It is about carers who do it for love as it were, unpaid carers.
"Understanding what rights they do have as well as pushing for more."
Susanna then said: "Do you know what, I just finished your book, Strength of Love.
"What struck me is that I thought I knew what you and Derek were going through."
Susanna continued: "In terms of the struggle. I had absolutely no idea.
