Comeback kid Ed Sheeran set to bag No1 and No2 chart spots with new singles

ED SHEERAN has been back for two minutes and he’s already making history.
He is set to join the ranks of chart legends by being one of the only artists to hit No1 and No2 with two songs released on the same day.
Last night, the new songs sat atop the iTunes chart and it looks likely he will knock CLEAN BANDIT off their perch.
Ed also came back with a host of outrageous tales from his year off.
He explained just what happened when PRINCESS BEATRICE sliced open his cheek with a sword while trying to knight JAMES BLUNT at a party, as The Sun on Sunday revealed last year.
“I quite like it.
“What kid did not want one of those cool Blofeld scars when they were little?
“It’s not the most gangster story in the world, is it?
“James would like me to tell everyone it was him and he was trying to reclaim his pop career by killing me."
FIRST LISTEN: SHAPE OF YOU

SHAPE Of You, heading to No1, shows Ed is not afraid to push pop boundaries on his new album ÷.
Written with SNOW PATROL’s JOHNNY MCDAID and produced by STEVE MAC (WESTLIFE, ONE DIRECTION), the tropical house track was intended for RIHANNA. It’s good Ed kept it, as it has global smash written all over it.
Speaking to Andy Bush on Absolute Radio, he said: “I guess when you shave, you cut yourself every now and again and your skin gets used to it, so I didn’t know I was cut.
“I got hit in the face and I was like, ‘All right, OK’ — and carried on.
“I looked down at my shirt and it was completely covered in blood and everyone was gaping open-mouthed at me.
“I was like, ‘What? Have I got a nosebleed or something?’”
Ed also told of being strapped to a World War One fighter jet by Lord Of The Rings director PETER JACKSON, swimming with sharks, bungee jumping Down Under, scalding his foot in an Icelandic spring and getting drunk with the cast of Game Of Thrones.
He also confirmed several Bizarre exclusives, including writing music in Ghana and recording his album on the Queen Mary II cruise ship.
But he stayed tight-lipped about headlining Glastonbury this summer.
After a bad year for new music, it’s a relief Ed’s back.
Now bring on the album.
FIRST LISTEN: CASTLE ON THE HILL

CASTLE On The Hill is Ed’s ode to his Suffolk home town Framlingham.
The rousing stadium anthem, made with US producer pal BENNY BLANCO, is classic Sheeran. His nostalgic lyrics (“Take me back to when I found my heart and broke it here”) about growing up in the countryside are touching and emotional. Fans will be singing it for months.

MEL B dressed as a ringmaster to host one of the funniest Lip Sync Battles ever last night, between DANNY DYER and CRAIG REVEL HORWOOD.
The pair kicked off series two mimicking AMY WINEHOUSE and BRITNEY SPEARS. They did better than MARIAH CAREY’s mime fail on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
Mel’s co-host PROFESSOR GREEN said on ITV’s LORRAINE yesterday: “She had a bit of a ’mare. She could have sung, she wasn’t on Lip Sync, was she? It was very awkward.”
He needs to give Mariah some tips.
Best kept secret
GEORGE BEST is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, and now son CALUM is to follow in his footsteps . . . sort of.
I’ve learned the telly star, currently on CBB, has joined his local team White City Boys.
And Calum has managed to keep his identity under wraps.
A source revealed: “Calum has been playing football in London on a weekly basis with locals who have no idea who he is. He has spent his whole life living in the shadow of his father’s great name so it’s a weird change.
“It’s just casual five-a-side but Calum has plenty of skills.”
Calum previously revealed how he turned down the chance to play professional football to pursue modelling.
Maybe he’s about to make a U-turn.
