'You got the wrong guy'

BBC Breakfast hosts left red-faced as they introduce the wrong guest in embarrassing blunder

Jon Kay and Rachel Burden were set to meet Leslie Binns, a hero who saved a woman who had collapsed on Mount Everest

BBC Breakfast hosts Jon Kay and Rachel Burden were left red-faced when they accidentally introduced the wrong guest on the show today.

The stars were prepared to meet Leslie Binns, 42, a hero who saved a woman who had collapsed on Mount Everest and is now scaling it again, but were instead sat next to a completely different man.

Amused by the error, their guest quickly joked: "I think you have the wrong guest, sir."

He was actually Todd Langman, there to discuss the political situation in America.

Quickly realising their mistake, both presenters burst out laughing, before Jon managed to cover it up nicely by asking if he had any "heroic" stories to share.

"You look so heroic," Kay said, before Burden joked: "Mmm, he doesn't necessarily look like a mountaineer."

Viewers found the entire error hilarious, as one tweeted: "'We now talk to the mountaineer who saved her life'. Turns to guest. 'I think you have the wrong guest'. Well, that was awkward."

While another added: "Interviewing the wrong guest on BBC News was hilarious."

And one wrote: "Another classic @BBCNews guest introduced as someone else. 'I think you have the wrong person sir....'"

Binns is currently on Mount Everest for a second time, having abandoned his first attempt to save mountaineer Sunita Hazra who was in trouble.

It comes after BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt was left mortified after getting Catherine Tate’s catchphrase wrong as he interviewed her in October last year.

His co-star Naga Munchetty struggled to contain her laughter as Charlie confused a Little Britain sketch with Catherine’s famous “Am I bovvered?” skit.

His nerves appeared to be getting the better of him before he even started, telling her: “I’m going to get it wrong now.”

As the presenter started to warily utter, “Yes but no but…”Catherine cut him off and explained his mistake to him.

She joked: “Yes but no but that was Little Britain but…”

Charlie’s colleague, former Strictly Come Dancing star Naga, started to laugh as Charlie began to apologise.

Catherine appeared to find his confusion hilarious however, saying to Charlie: “Am I bovvered though?

“Am I bovvered that you got it wrong?

“Look at my face, is my face bovvered that you got my catchphrase wrong, no!

“No look, Charlie, face, bovvered?”
