Ed Sheeran given a police warning after SINGING about speeding

ED SHEERAN had his knuckles rapped by the Police - after merely SINGING about speeding at 90mph.

Far from taking to an actual vehicle to ramp up the speedometer, the star had a brush with the law simply for belting out the phrase "driving at 90 down those country lanes" in new track, Castle on the Hill.

After listening to the song Sergeant Chris Harris, who works for Norfolk & Suffolk's Roads Policing Unit took to Twitter to instruct the star to "slow down."

Directly tagging The A Team singer in his message, he wrote: "#DriveToArrive @edsheeran Know you want to get home but please slow down on #SuffolkRoads #WelcomeBackEd #DrivingAt90 #CastleOnTheHill".

The guitar-based track is thought to pay tribute to Ed's upbringing, with the full chorus featuring the words: "I'm on my way, driving at 90 down those country lanes.

"Singing to Tiny Dancer.

"And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real.

"We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill."
Yesterday, after more than a year out of the limelight, Ed debuted TWO new singles — Castle On The Hill and Shape Of You.

The Sun exclusively revealed he was set to bag both number one and two slots in the UK charts with the pair of tunes.

He is set to join the ranks of chart legends by being one of the only artists to bag both positions with two songs released on the same day.

On Thursday, the new songs sat atop the iTunes chart and it looks likely he will knock Clean Bandit off their perch.

Ed also came back with a host of outrageous tales from his year off.

He explained just what happened when Princess Beatrice sliced open his cheek with a sword while trying to knight JAMES BLUNT at a party, as The Sun on Sunday revealed last year.

Ed said: “It’s a proper scar.

“I quite like it.

“What kid did not want one of those cool Blofeld scars when they were little?

“It’s not the most gangster story in the world, is it?

“James would like me to tell everyone it was him and he was trying to reclaim his pop career by killing me."

He added: “I guess when you shave, you cut yourself every now and again and your skin gets used to it, so I didn’t know I was cut.

“I got hit in the face and I was like, ‘All right, OK’ — and carried on.

“I looked down at my shirt and it was completely covered in blood and everyone was gaping open-mouthed at me.

“I was like, ‘What? Have I got a nosebleed or something?’”
