Duncan James confirms Amy Barnes death in Hollyoaks and how much he will miss his co-star Ashley Slanina-Davies
The pop-star-turned-actor joined the show as her fiancé Ryan Knight last summer

DUNCAN James has confirmed that Amy Barnes will be killed off Hollyoaks but said he will miss his co-star Ashley Slanina-Davies “terribly”.
Last week, The Sun exclusively revealed that the long-serving character will be killed off as part of a whodunit story line.
And this afternoon, as Duncan appeared as a guest on Loose Women, he told the panel – Andrea McLean, Jane Moore, Nadia Sawalha and Stacey Solomon – about the upcoming storyline.
He said: “My character is a bit of a numpty and unfortunately his life is about to be turned upside down because one of Hollyoaks’ longest-running characters, the lovely Amy Barnes, is about to be dead.”
As a photo of Duncan and Ashley flashed up on screen, he said: “There she is. She’s so gorgeous and I’m going to miss her terribly.
“Ever since I started I’ve done everything with her. She’s been my little mentor and Ashley is such a lovely, lovely girl and she’s going to be dead, unfortunately.”
Duncan then revealed that he has been doing panto for the last six weeks and had been written out of the show while he was on stage as the Prince in Snow White at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth.
He added: “I’m about to come back and then find her, unfortunately.”
Duncan then revealed he had been nominated for Best Newcomer at this year’s National Television Awards for his first ever television drama role.
But his announcement left fans of the soap in shock and many took to Twitter to say how sad they'll be to see Amy gone.
One wrote: "In Hollyoaks my favourite is Mr Ryan Knight and Amy Barnes but now that Amy will not be here who will be my favourite couple now?"

And another added, with a crying emoji: "Omg Duncan James just said on Loose Women that Amy Barnes is going to die on Hollyoaks!"
Ashley Slanina-Davies was offered the role of Amy while looking for TV work as an extra and first appeared in the soap in 2005.
Her storylines have included underage pregnancy which resulted in the birth of daughter Leah Barnes and domestic abuse with Ste Hay.
Actress Ashley left the E4 show in 2012 and returned for guest appearances in 2013 and 2014 before coming back permanently in August last year.
