Director of new Netflix hit The Crown has told the Queen to NOT watch hugely popular show because of ‘controversial’ issues that outraged palace aids
The producer of the Golden Globe winning drama said royals should not watch due to controversial issues

CONTROVERSIAL drama The Crown won big at the Golden Globes, but producer Stephen Daldry has warned The Queen never to watch the show.
The big budget series picked up Best Television Series in the drama category and also claimed a best actress gong for Claire Foy, but has raised eyebrows for its near-the-knuckle portrayal of the family.
Racy scenes include showing Matt Smith as Prince Phillip completely nude and a sex scene, and another in which the Duke of Edinburgh makes a cheeky joke about oral sex to The Queen, played by Foy.
And Stephen Daldry, the show’s executive producer admits he hopes Her Majesty is not tempted to watch the show despite its recent accolades.
The film-maker, 56, whose previous credits include Billy Elliot and The Hours, said: “I sincerely hope they don’t watch it and nor should they.
“I think enough people in the palace have watched it to reassure the family that were not doing a hack job, and that we are deeply respectful, but we are exploring issues of the family and their relationships both with internally to that family and their relationship to the government of the day.
“So there will be issues that are controversial for the family and its why i think they don’t should watch it. It is an imagined history - as well researched as it is, it is our interpretation of those events. It’s not a documentary.”

Daldry was attending the British Academy of Film and Television’s annual Tea Party event ahead of the glittering ceremony, where he admitted working with online broadcaster Netflix may have allowed them greater freedom to portray the family in an edgier way than a conventional channel.
It cost a staggering £100 million to make but has won critical acclaim around the world for its portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II’s relationship and marriage to the Duke of Edinburgh in their early years.
And Foy has revealed that the shows could be set for a major overhaul after the second season, saying: “Well after two seasons, that’s it. I’m gone. They’re getting rid of all of us.
“I don’t how they’re planning on doing it, but they’re such an incredible bunch of directors and producers that it’s gonna be different and exciting. It’ll be original. I can’t wait to see where it goes.”
